Proeftuin Zwaagdijk
NLG Holland collaborates closely with Proeftuin Zwaagdijk. This is one of the leading agricultural research centres of the Netherlands. The centre specialises in practical research. Zwaagdijk has its own sites in North Holland and in the Westland region. In addition, Zwaagdijk has a national network of 100 research locations throughout the Netherlands.
Scale of Proeftuin Zwaagdijk
Proeftuin Zwaagdijk is situated to the north of the town of Hoorn in North Holland. It is strategically placed between major agricultural areas such as Grootslag, Agriport A7 and Seedvalley. The research centre has 18 hectares of land, part of which is used for organic growth. In North Holland, they have 6.000 m² of greenhouses. In addition, Zwaagdijk has 20 cold stores and 4 modern chicory stores. In the Westland, the centre has 3,000 m² of greenhouses and accommodation for research and demonstrations.
Research at our own farms
The members of our NLG Holland cooperative also conduct research at their own farms. In controlled environments, we check which methods, means and types of compost work best. All for the benefit of a healthy soil and strong bulbs and plants.
